Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina Surpasses 3 Million Safe Hours
On Tuesday, June 14th, Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina (GIUMSC) hit – and then surpassed – three million safe hours, a new record for GIUMSC. Safe hours are the number of hours worked without a lost-time accident. The three-million-hour milestone followed a 20-month period of continuous work time without a lost-time accident that began on October 16, 2014.
“Beyond the hours, this achievement means a lot of people have had the opportunity to work and train in an environment where we value them, and value sending them home each day unharmed,” said Patrick Michaels, CEO of GIUMSC.
During its 2015/2016 fiscal year, which ended July 2nd, GIUMSC reinforced its commitment to Safety, making it one of the organization’s six core values.
“This represents a truly company-wide effort to maintain a safe working environment and shopping experience for everyone,” says Bill Childs, Director of Risk Management, of the milestone. “Most importantly, we are taking care of our most valuable asset: our people.”
Associates are now working toward the next big milestone: 4 million safe hours.
