After his service in the U.S. Army, Chandra found himself facing unexpected and overwhelming challenges. The transition back to civilian life was tough, leading him to long-term unemployment, homelessness, and struggles with substance abuse. Months spent on the streets took a toll, yet Chandra kept searching for a way to reclaim his life.

His turning point came when he connected with Journey Ministries, an organization dedicated to helping those in crisis. They introduced Chandra to a Goodwill Career Navigator with the Homebound Heroes program, a compassionate guide who provided him with the support and resources he desperately needed. At the very first meeting, he was introduced to the various training opportunities and the supportive services offered through Homebound Heroes – a lifeline for veterans in similar situations.

In June 2024, Chandra took a leap forward and enrolled in both the Homebound Heroes program and Goodwill’s Film Academy. With their help, he received a smart tablet to aid his learning, along with transportation assistance, allowing him to focus on his training without the added worry of logistics. He quickly adapted to the Film Academy’s coursework, channeling his energy into mastering media skills.

Several months later, Chandra completed his training and earned his Film Job Training Certification. His hard work and dedication paid off when he secured a position as a Media Specialist. Today, with Goodwill’s continued support, Chandra is not only employed but thriving, ready to start a new chapter.
