In May, Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands SC (GIUMSC) will reach 50 YEARS of service to the people of South Carolina. We are celebrating this milestone with a Great Gatsby-themed gala Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Greenville Convention Center.

Every ticket holder will enjoy an open bar with light hors d’oeuvres from 5-7 pm; a three-course seated dinner with cash bar; live entertainment; a special awards program and an unbelievable night of fun and fellowship.

Founded May 1, 1973, by Mr. Lloyd Auten, GIUMSC serves job seekers and families across 16 counties of South Carolina, helping them create generational success through the power of work. A year after GIUMSC's founding, Mr. Auten said it best when he echoed the words of Rev. Edgar Helms, describing Goodwill as "not a charity, but a chance."

Today, we continue creating the necessary chances for those in need to transform their lives. Our 41 retail stores and Auten's Loft boutique in Chapin turn donors' generosity into new treasures for shoppers. Then, more than 90 cents of every dollar is converted into life-changing education and career services at no cost to participants. A half-century since being founded, our Goodwill provides free education and career help to more than ten thousand people each year.
