Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina (GIUMSC) has announced the temporary closure of its retail location at 412 Sulphur Springs Road in Greenville, SC on November 23, 2024. The closure will allow for a comprehensive renovation, transforming the site into the new Upstate Clearance Center, expected to open in mid-December.

From soldier to struggling civilian, Anthony Smith's journey took him through dark times. After facing homelessness and battles with addiction, he found a lifeline through Goodwill's Homebound Heroes program, helping him turn his life around when he needed it most.

Richard Chrysler, a proud U.S. Navy veteran, found himself in unchartered waters after his military service, battling unexpected setbacks that put his family at risk. Laid off and facing prolonged unemployment, Richard feel months behind on his mortgage - until a foreclosure notice landed on his doorstep, threatening to turn his family's struggle into a battle for survival.

Eric Heaton, a U.S. Army Veteran, encountered significant challenges after returning to civilian life. The shift from military structure to civilian independence weighed heavily on him, leading to isolation and depression. In his struggle to cope, Eric turned to alcohol, which ultimately brought him into contact with law enforcement and a period of incarceration. Upon release, he found himself without a home or support network, facing a daunting road to recovery and stability.

Chandra’s story is one of resilience and transformation. After his military service, he found himself navigating the challenges of civilian life alone, eventually facing homelessness. For a time, hope seemed distant, but with the help of Goodwill, he found a pathway to rebuild his life, rediscover stability, find purpose, and build a renewed sense of possibility.

Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina (GIUMSC), in collaboration with the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, is proud to host the 2024 Supplier Diversity Fair, designed to connect minority and small business owners with procurement professionals from across the region. The free event, held at The Unity Park Welcome Center on November 8, aims to create new opportunities for local businesses to build and expand partnerships within the Upstate area.
