From Service to Success: How Anthony Smith Transformed His Life and Became an Inspiration for Others
November 12, 2024
After serving in the U.S. Army, Anthony Smith faced a difficult path back to civilian life. Struggling with depression and isolation, he turned to alcohol, which led to run-ins with the law and eventually homelessness. Feeling vulnerable and without support, Anthony did not know where to turn – until he met a Career Navigator with Goodwill’s Homebound Heroes program.
In April 2024, Anthony enrolled in Homebound Heroes, where he found the support he needed to rebuild his life. Goodwill provided him with steel-toed boots, a bus ticket, and a smart tablet through their supportive services. With these resources, he completed a Forklift Job Training Certification and soon received job placement with Warehouse Services, Inc.
With the guidance and tools Goodwill provided, Anthony has transitioned to a new chapter in life. Equipped with stable employment, skills, and confidence, he is now on a path toward a brighter future, fulfilling his potential and setting an inspiring example for others.
