Greenwood County Community Foundation (GCCF) has announced a $5,000 grant to Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina (GIUMSC) for in-demand healthcare training in Greenwood County.  The funding from the grant will go directly to GIUMSC’s Job Training & Employment Program which provides training opportunities in partnership with Piedmont Technical College for individuals pursuing a Certified Nurse Aid credential.

GIUMSC’s Job Training & Employment Program addresses the correlated problems of unemployment and poverty that are negatively affecting the quality of life for many residents and stifling Greenwood County’s overall economic potential. This award marks the third year that GCCF has provided grant-funded support for GIUMSC programs. Over the last two years, 63 participants have enrolled in the CNA training in Greenwood County, with 58 obtaining certification. 

Through the grant from GCCF, GIUMSC programs will connect program participants with opportunities in Greenwood County through case management, work readiness training, supportive services, work experience training, milestone incentives, job search and placement assistance, and employment retention services.

GCCF works collaboratively with individuals and organizations that are interested in improving the quality of life in Greenwood. The Foundation provides funding to charitable organizations located in Greenwood County through annual granting cycles. Through numerous individual endowed and non-endowed funds, their impact extends across the nation and around the world.
