Goodwill Launches Tech Academy to Train the Next Generation of Cybersecurity Professionals in South Carolina

Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina (GIUMSC) is proud to announce the launch of its innovative Tech Academy, poised to revolutionize the landscape of cybersecurity education. With the ever-growing importance of safeguarding digital assets in today’s interconnected world, the Tech Academy seeks to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to protect data and combat emerging cyber threats.

The Tech Academy will open doors to a variety of dynamic career possibilities, empowering individuals to embark on fulfilling careers in cybersecurity. Participants will have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications, including CompTIA, IT Fundamentals, A+ certification, and Network+. STEM U, a company that specializes in connecting partners to science, technology, engineering, and math will provide course instruction for the program.

The inaugural class of the Tech Academy will take place on March 25, 2024, at two locations: the Goodwill Hardscrabble Job Connection in Columbia (111 Highland Center Drive, Columbia, SC 29203) and Goodwill’s Youth and Family Services Center in Greenville (45 E. Main Street, Greenville, SC 29611).

The Tech Academy is part of Goodwill’s new Innovation Institute that offers participants the opportunity to undergo training and obtain certifications in technology-focused sectors such as Cybersecurity, Film Studies, Healthcare Pathways, and Drone Pilot training.
