Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina (GIUMSC) is celebrating the grand opening of their attended donation center (ADC) at 2627 Millwood Avenue, Suite C in Columbia, SC. The ADC is set to begin taking donations on May 23, 2024 at 9am in a newly remodeled unit.

Goodwill maintains over 12 ADC locations across their 16-county region, along with each donation center attached to its 41 retail stores. The new ADC marks a significant milestone in GIUMSC’s commitment to serve the local community and provide convenient donation opportunities for residents. By donating to Goodwill, individuals not only declutter their homes, but also support positive life-changing efforts in their communities.

ADCs play an important part in Goodwill’s mission of providing access, information, and resources to help people improve their lives through the power of work. Each donation of gently used goods dropped off at a Goodwill ADC is sold in one of their 41 retail stores or three Auten’s Loft boutiques across the Upstate and Midlands of South Carolina. The money from those retail sales funds career education and training programs through Goodwill’s Job Connections. In fact, Goodwill devotes over 90 cents of every dollar it spends to those programs.

Goodwill’s donation centers also serve as a catalyst for sustainability, repurposing over 40 million pounds of goods annually, preventing them from reaching landfills and driving environmental impact in South Carolina.

The Millwood ADC will be open 7 days a week from 9am-6pm, Mon-Sat, and 1-6pm on Sunday.
