August 28, 2024

Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina (GIUMSC) is excited to announce the launch of its groundbreaking Career Pathways model at their new Resource and Opportunity Center (ROC) located at 111 Highland Center Drive in Columbia, SC. This innovative approach is designed to meet the diverse needs of today’s career seekers, offering them the tools and resources to transform their interests into meaningful, in-demand careers.

To celebrate this significant milestone, Goodwill is hosting an Open House at the ROC on September 19th from 3pm-6pm, inviting the community to explore the wide array of career services and training programs now available.

The Career Pathways model is a comprehensive framework that helps individuals identify and pursue career paths they are passionate about. With over 20 specialized training programs and classes, participants can choose from fields such as healthcare, transportation and logistics, skilled trades, clean technology, and various other sectors. Additionally, tailored services are available for older workers, young adults, veterans, those reentering the workforce, and individuals seeking vocational services.

Central to this model is the Innovation Institute, a cutting-edge catalog of programs that offer participants the opportunity to obtain certifications in high-demand, technology-focused sectors. From Cybersecurity and Film Studies to Healthcare Pathways and Drone Pilot training, the Innovation Institute equips individuals with the skills needed to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving job market.

The Midlands ROC serves as a centralized hub for Goodwill-operated career services, providing free resources and personalized guidance to help individuals achieve their workforce and training goals. Whether someone is looking to embark on a new career, upskill in their current field, or explore new opportunities, the ROC is the place to start the journey.

“Goodwill’s Career Pathways model is more than just a set of programs – it is a lifeline for those looking to build a better future,” said GIUMSC Vice President of Community and Workforce Development, Monique McDaniels. “We are committed to helping individuals not only find jobs but also discover careers they love and excel in.
